Perks: “Meals prepared by an in-house chef” — do we even have to tell you more about the company in this week’s Portrait Series?

In all seriousness, today we introduce to you a special IT consulting company that is definitely worth a closer look.

In today’s Company Portrait: Oliver Gehrmann (CEO) & Kristine Jetzke (CTO) @ kreuzwerker — an IT Consulting firm from Berlin Kreuzberg that dares to be different: “We tell it like it is, and we say what we think. And that’s what we do. And that’s exactly why we love our neighborhood. It’s is direct, intriguing, diverse and above all, genuine. Here art is still painted on concrete and not oil on canvas.”

What’s your company’s mission?

We are an IT consulting company with offices in Berlin Kreuzberg, Frankfurt a.M., Munich, Warsaw and Zurich. We provide custom digital solutions: we migrate, accelerate, network, and make everything more agile and smooth. Our mission is to develop solutions that make companies independent in the long term. We love our independence. And that of our customers too.

Consulting can be a red flag for developers — how are you different? What is it like working at kreuzwerker?

Yes, kreuzwerker is a consulting firm, but without the fuss of well-known, big consulting firms (and we never want to become like that). We are different. Digital technology is a real and honest craft for us.

At kreuzwerker, 34 different nations come together, and it’s precisely this internationality and diversity that also makes us special. We pay attention to a healthy work-life quality (balance is not enough for us). We work with exciting clients, i.e. idealo, Scout24, WMF, Solarisbank, Scalable Capital, Spryker, Audible, smava and many more.

What technologies are you usually working with?

The tech-stack differs, of course, from project to project. Since we have been an AWS partner from the very beginning, most of our projects have some AWS context. We strongly believe in automation; therefore we build infrastructure with IaC tools such as Terraform or CDK. Programming languages and frameworks used in our projects are typically Java, Kotlin, Spring Boot, Scala, Node.js, TypeScript, Python, or Go. In addition, we often work with Kafka, Spark, Serverless and Kubernetes and use common CI/CI and observability tools.

How has kreuzwerker adapted to the challenges of the Covid pandemic?

We implemented a strict home office policy during and at the peak of the pandemic. At our company, every employee was top-equipped from the start (even for remote work), so the changeover was not a major effort. Our customers have taken it well, and our consultants have done a great job. Nevertheless, we will all be happy when we can meet again for coffee or events in our modern offices.

What are the perks of working at kreuzwerker?

We offer our employees a wide range of benefits such as: Apple hardware, iPhone or Fairphone, company bike, gym, meals prepared by an in-house chef, sabbaticals, remote work, flexible work hours, part-time options, continuing education budget of €2500/yr, time for personal projects and development, pension funds and much more.

What are your hiring goals over the next 12 months?

We want to add another 40 new colleagues to our current number of just under 120 employees working at kreuzwerker. We are looking for AWS Engineers, Data Engineers, Java Backend Developers and Atlassian Consultants / Atlassian Salespeople. We love what we do, and what sets us apart is an honest passion for digital technologies. If you bring passion and motivation in the areas we are looking for, we are a match :-)

If this sounds like the perfect job opportunity for you, sign up to Honeypot and let kreuzwerker apply to you in our reverse recruiting process!
